Q: I was drinking and driving, and got injured in a car accident. Do I have rights to compensation?

A: Depending on the circumstances of the injury, possibly. But if driving decisions that you made are found to contribute to the cause of the accident, your insurance company may have the right to revoke any compensation you would otherwise receive. A lawyer's job in many such cases is to show that, regardless of the client's mental or physical condition at the time of the accident, the accident would have occurred exactly or nearly the same way.
